MANILA, Philippines — China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels blocked and rammed a Philippine Navy Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) carrying sick personnel for immediate medical evacuation in Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal last month, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday.
According to Commodore Jay Tarriela, PCG spokesman for the West Philippine Sea, a PCG High-Speed Response Boat (HSRB) on its way to rendezvous with the RHIB was also harassed by vessels and small boats from the CCG through blocking operations last May 19, 2024.
