Vice President Sara Duterte shared that it is much more painful to be left by a boyfriend or girlfriend than to face impeachment. She made this comment during a press conference on Friday, hinting at the recent political actions taken against her.
Before ending her press talk, Duterte left a message for everyone, relating it to her situation with the House of Representatives moving forward with her impeachment.
“Mas masakit pa maiwan ng boyfriend o girlfriend kaysa ma-impeach ka ng House of Representatives,” she said. In English, she explained, “It’s more painful to be left by your boyfriend or girlfriend than to be impeached by the House of Representatives.”
Duterte’s statement comes after 215 lawmakers in the House of Representatives supported the impeachment case against her. On Wednesday, the lower chamber officially passed the impeachment complaint and sent it to the Senate, which will serve as the impeachment court.
Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero shared that the impeachment trial would not start until the Senate’s session resumes in June.
Despite the impeachment proceedings, Vice President Duterte made it clear that she has no plans to resign from her position, remaining firm in her decision.
