Pinoys Suggest ‘Squid Game’ Doll for Traffic Light Discipline

In the Philippines, some people have come up with a unique idea to make sure drivers follow traffic lights: the killer doll from the popular Netflix series, Squid Game!

The doll, named Young-hee, is a giant animatronic robot that appears in the show’s famous “Red Light, Green Light” game. In the game, players have to stop moving when the doll turns around during a red light. If they’re caught moving, they’re eliminated. Some Filipinos think this doll could help teach drivers to follow traffic rules in the country, where many don’t always stop at red lights.

Images of Young-hee controlling traffic lights in busy Philippine streets have been shared online. In the pictures, the doll looks like she’s watching the traffic and making sure all the cars and motorcycles stop when the light turns red. This idea has caught attention on social media, with many agreeing that it might just be the solution to traffic chaos.

One Reddit user posted, “Do we need this in the Philippines?” and it quickly got a lot of likes and comments. People joked that it could help reduce the number of drivers who don’t follow the rules. Some also suggested it might even make sure people use their signal lights properly before turning.

In the Squid Game series, players must cross a field, but they can only move when Young-hee isn’t looking. If they move when she turns around, they’re out of the game. The doll is a scary reminder that breaking the rules comes with consequences.

This fun idea is being shared on social media as a way to remind people of the importance of following traffic signals. Some think that having a strict system like the Red Light, Green Light game could make sure drivers stop being careless.

Edison “Bong” Nebrija, the head of the traffic education division at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), also reminded everyone to follow traffic signals. He shared a sad story of a motorcyclist who was hit by a car at an intersection because the motorcycle didn’t stop when the light turned red. He warned that ignoring traffic signals could lead to dangerous accidents.

Traffic lights are there for safety—red means stop, yellow means slow down, and green means go. Drivers need to follow these rules to keep everyone safe on the road. Maybe the Squid Game doll could help remind them!
