LTO Warns Drivers to Avoid Bicol and Visayas After Typhoon Kristine

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced that only trucks and heavy vehicles can safely travel to Bicol right now.

In their advisory, they said, “Because of Typhoon Kristine’s effects on the Bicol Region, we strongly suggest that all drivers pause their trips to Bicol and the Visayas. The only exceptions are for those delivering relief goods or heading directly to Camarines Norte.”

For everyone’s safety, the LTO is urging motorists to wait until the roads are better before traveling. They promise to keep an eye on the situation and share updates as they come.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has instructed the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to help local governments in the Bicol Region that are dealing with the aftermath of Kristine.

The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) has also warned passengers traveling to Bicol not to rush to the station, as many trips have been canceled due to flooded roads.

Kristine left the Philippine area on Friday and has now grown stronger.

The weather bureau is also watching Tropical Storm Leon, which is getting a bit stronger over the Philippine Sea and might affect the weather in the Visayas, Mindanao, and southern parts of Luzon.
