UAE Offers More Time for Overstaying OFWs to Apply for Visa Amnesty

DUBAI – Good news for Filipino workers and other foreigners staying too long in the UAE without proper visas! The United Arab Emirates (UAE) just announced an extension for its visa amnesty program. Originally set to end on October 31, this special program now runs until December 31.

The program, launched by the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP), allows people who’ve overstayed to fix their visa status without facing any fines. They can either leave the UAE with a clean record or stay legally if they find a new job.

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, Alfonso Ver, welcomed the extension, calling it “a generous and positive gesture.” He encouraged Filipinos who need help to use this extra time. The Philippine Embassy and Consulate General are ready to provide assistance and guidance.

Many Filipinos shared their joy about the extension online, calling it an “early Christmas gift” and a blessing. One mother even shared her relief that she now has time to fix her children’s documents, saying, “Praise be to God.”

Maj. Gen. Suhail Saeed Al Khaili from the ICP emphasized that this is the final chance for overstayers to settle their status without penalties or entry bans. He added that this program is meant to help people overcome their struggles, protect their families, and plan a better future.

Under this amnesty, the usual AED50 daily fine for overstaying is waived. Those eligible can either leave and return later or stay in the UAE legally if they have new employment. Don’t miss out—this is your chance to start fresh in the UAE!
