Trump Promises 10,000 More Border Agents to Fight Harris on Immigration

WASHINGTON – Donald Trump promises on Sunday during a rally in Arizona. If he gets re-elected, he said he would hire 10,000 more border patrol agents to help with illegal immigration. He plans to do this by asking Congress to approve a pay raise for the agents and give them bonuses to keep them on the job.

Trump was joined on stage by leaders from the Border Patrol union, who support his plan. He said this would make sure that there are enough agents to secure the U.S. border.

Trump is running against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election. One of the biggest issues voters care about is immigration, and Trump is seen as the best candidate to handle it, according to recent polls.

Earlier this year, Trump blocked a deal that would have added 1,500 new border agents and 1,600 asylum officers. There are about 20,000 border agents working in the U.S. right now.

Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden have criticized Trump for blocking this deal. They say he did it for political reasons, not to help the country.

Since President Biden took office, around 7 million people have been stopped for crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally. This has led to a lot of criticism of Harris and Biden, especially from Trump and his supporters.

Harris, in return, has shared her plans to fix the country’s immigration system. She says Trump is spreading fear and dividing people over immigration. She also wants to make it harder for people to seek asylum and stop the dangerous drug fentanyl from entering the U.S.

Recently, Trump has been more aggressive with his statements about immigration. Last week, he called for the death penalty for anyone who kills an American citizen while being in the U.S. illegally. He has also called immigrants who commit violent crimes “monsters” and “animals,” even though studies show immigrants do not commit more crimes than U.S. citizens.

Critics say Trump’s harsh language makes things worse and plays into unfair stereotypes about immigrants.
