Russia launched a very powerful missile at Ukraine on Thursday, making it the first time they used such a big missile during the war. The missile came from the Astrakhan area in southern Russia and hit the city of Dnipro in central-eastern Ukraine, aiming at important buildings and services. This attack happened after Ukraine used missiles from the US and UK to strike Russian targets.
Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) can travel really far—thousands of kilometers—and are often used with nuclear warheads, though they can carry regular warheads too. The Ukrainian air defense was able to shoot down six other missiles, but it’s unclear if the ICBM caused any damage.
