“She’s a victim here,” Reyes insisted. “My client is merely a brand ambassador and model-endorser. She wasn’t involved in the company’s financial dealings.”

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a warning in September 2023 against Dermacare-Beyond Skin Care Solutions. The agency revealed that the company was not registered and lacked the necessary license to solicit investments. This led to potential legal action against anyone affiliated with the company, including sales agents, brokers, and endorsers like Rufa Mae and Neri Naig.
Neri Naig’s Arrest Sparks Concern
Neri Naig-Miranda was arrested last week for syndicated estafa and violations of the same securities law. She was detained at the Pasay City Jail but was later moved to a hospital for medical evaluation. Her husband, Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar, defended her on Instagram, asserting that Neri was merely an endorser and had cut ties with Dermacare long ago.
Neri even shared a public disclaimer last year, stating she was no longer connected to the company and did not authorize the use of her name or photos.
Rufa Mae’s Next Steps
Atty. Reyes revealed that Rufa Mae plans to voluntarily surrender and post bail. She also hinted at the possibility of Rufa Mae filing countercharges to clear her name and hold the responsible parties accountable.
“We have all the evidence, including bounced checks and contracts showing she was just an endorser,” Reyes explained.
