On Monday, January 13, Quezon City will suspend face-to-face classes for public daycare to senior high school, as well as Alternative Learning Systems (ALS), to support the Iglesia ni Cristo’s (INC) National Rally for Peace. The city will also suspend work in government offices, except for health services, disaster response, law enforcement, and other essential services.
The rally, organized by the INC, will take place at their main church, Templo Central, located in Quezon City. This suspension is a way for the city to show support for the peaceful event, which aims to express the INC’s solidarity with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s stance against impeachment efforts.
Private schools and companies will decide whether to suspend their operations. Public schools will continue their work using alternative learning methods.
Malacañang also declared that government offices and classes in Pasay and Manila will be suspended on the same day for the rally. The rally will show support for President Marcos, who has opposed impeachment plans against Vice President Sara Duterte, who is currently facing multiple impeachment complaints.
The INC announced the rally last December 4, and it is expected to have many attendees.
