Pres. Marcos Reviews Cabinet: Who Stays & Who Goes

Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is still thinking about whether he needs to make changes to the people leading different government departments, according to Malacañang on Tuesday.

For now, no new changes have been made, even though there are rumors that some officials might be replaced soon. Recently, Vince Dizon was named the new Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), taking over from Jaime Bautista. Also, Jay Ruiz replaced Cesar Chavez as the new head of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

No Immediate Changes Yet

Speaking to reporters, Malacañang Press Officer Claire Castro explained that President Marcos is still evaluating his Cabinet members. He wants to see if they are doing their jobs well and helping the people.

“The president is still checking if there’s a need to change any leaders in each department. So far, nothing has changed yet. Everything is still being reviewed,” Castro said during a press briefing.

When asked if a major reshuffle of the Cabinet is coming, Castro said it’s too early to tell.

“The president always evaluates if his secretaries and Cabinet members are working well for the government and the people,” she added. “But as of now, there are no changes yet.”

Rumors About More Officials Leaving

There have been talks that two more officials—Presidential Security Command Chief Jesus Nelson Morales and Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy—might be removed from their positions. However, Castro denied these rumors, saying, “As of now, there are no changes. No one has been removed, transferred, or replaced.”

Upcoming Changes in the Presidential Communications Office

While most positions remain the same, Castro confirmed that Jay Ruiz, the newly appointed head of the PCO, is planning some changes in his department. However, she said that Ruiz has not yet asked any officials to submit their resignations.

“He mentioned that some officials will stay, while others might be replaced. Let’s just wait for Secretary Jay Ruiz’s final decision,” Castro said.

Ruiz and Castro officially took their oaths before President Marcos on Monday at Malacañang Palace.

For now, all eyes are on President Marcos as he continues to assess his team. Will there be big changes soon? The public will have to wait and see.
