The Philippine Embassy in Seoul has issued an important warning for all Filipinos in South Korea—stay away from public demonstrations and follow local laws to avoid legal trouble.
With large rallies and protests expected in the coming days due to the country’s current political situation, the embassy is urging Pinoys to be extra careful.
“Filipino nationals are advised to observe the usual precautions and avoid crowded and congested public areas,” the embassy posted on Facebook last Saturday.
Foreigners Are Not Allowed to Join Protests
In South Korea, foreigners are strictly prohibited from joining political activities, including public demonstrations. This is part of Article 17 of the Immigration Control Act, which controls the stay and departure of foreigners in the country.
The embassy reminded Filipinos to follow all local laws and regulations to prevent problems that could affect their stay in South Korea.
