MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Airlines (PAL) has once again earned a spot in the Top 10 on-time airlines in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the Cirium On-Time Performance Report. This marks the second consecutive year PAL has achieved this recognition.
Cirium, a company based in London, has been tracking the punctuality of airlines and airports worldwide for over 16 years. They define “on-time flights” as those that arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled gate arrival.
In 2024, PAL improved its ranking to 7th place (up from 8th place last year) and was the only Filipino airline to make it to the Top 10. This is a big achievement for the airline, showing that it is one of the most punctual carriers in the Asia-Pacific region.
The report mentioned that PAL’s on-time performance last year was 76.06%, covering more than 112,000 flights worldwide. This means that over 76% of PAL’s flights arrived on time, which is an excellent performance for such a large airline.
To start 2024 strong, PAL was also named the “Most Punctual Airline” for January, with an impressive 86.85% on-time performance.
Capt. Stanley Ng, PAL’s president and chief operating officer, expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He said, “This affirms the long-term investments we are making in enhancing reliability and efficiency in all our operations, and always at the highest level of safety.”
Other airlines in the Asia-Pacific region that performed well in terms of punctuality include Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, and Thai AirAsia.
Overall, this ranking highlights Philippine Airlines as one of the leading airlines in Asia when it comes to being on time and dependable!
