OFW in Kuwait Found Dead, Family Awaited December Homecoming

Dafnie Nacalaban, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Kuwait, had planned a heartfelt surprise for her family this December. Sadly, her loved ones were instead met with devastating news—Dafnie had been missing for two months, and her decomposing body was found buried in her employer’s backyard.

A Promised Homecoming Turned Heartbreak

“We kept asking her when she would come home. She said, ‘I’ll surprise you in December.’ We didn’t expect this kind of surprise,” Dafnie’s sister, Michael Nacalaban Lensahan, shared tearfully.

In their last conversation in May 2024, Dafnie didn’t mention any problems, leaving her family shocked and heartbroken over her tragic fate.

A Family’s Cry for Justice

Michael expressed her family’s desire for justice, saying, “We just want our sister to come home and for her to receive justice. Why would someone do this to her?”

Discovery of the Crime

The case came to light when the suspect’s sibling reported the incident to local authorities. Police investigations led to the grim discovery of Dafnie’s body in the backyard of her employer’s home. It was in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting she had been dead for nearly two months.

The suspect, who reportedly has a prior criminal record, is now in police custody.

Government Assures Action

Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega stated, “The government will do everything it can to seek justice. It’s heartbreaking that this happened, especially as the year ends.”

A Tragic Reminder

This tragedy underscores the risks many OFWs face while working abroad to provide for their families. Dafnie’s family now hopes for her return to the Philippines and that justice will be served for the loss of their beloved sister.
