The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has started an investigation into Vice President Sara Duterte after she made threats to have President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez killed. This follows her comments during a virtual press conference on November 23, where she said she had ordered someone to kill them if anything happened to her.
The NBI Director, Jaime Santiago, announced that they would subpoena Duterte to appear before the agency within five days. The investigation started right after the video of her comments was made public. The NBI is taking this very seriously, as it involves threats against high-ranking government officials.
The Department of Justice also made it clear that Vice President Duterte is not above the law and will face legal consequences. Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres called the threats very alarming and stressed that the government is taking action to protect the President. The case will be dealt with seriously due to the gravity of the situation.
