BRUSSELS — NATO allies are having discussions about North Korean troops being sent to Russia, according to a spokesperson for NATO. Farah Dakhlallah mentioned on Wednesday that there is evidence of North Korean soldiers being deployed, but she didn’t say which allies confirmed this.
Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that his country’s intelligence found out that North Korea was sending both weapons and troops to Russia.
“We are working together within NATO on this issue,” Dakhlallah added. “The North Atlantic Council will soon get an update from South Korea and will discuss this further.”
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also said on Wednesday that there is proof of North Korean troops in Russia, but it’s still unclear what their mission will be there.
