DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Travel agencies are experiencing a holiday boom as many Filipinos abroad bring their families to Dubai for the festive season. Requests for visas and tours have skyrocketed, with some agencies reporting up to a three-fold increase in applications compared to last year.
A Record-Breaking Season
Malou Prado, CEO of a travel agency, described the season as “super peak,” revealing that her company alone has processed over 1,000 applications this holiday period. Similarly, Ellanie Villena, owner of another agency, said the demand for visas and tours far exceeded expectations, noting that family and group bookings have significantly increased.
“The number of applications has tripled compared to last year,” Villena explained. “Many Filipino families are eager to reunite and explore the UAE during the holidays.”
Smooth Visa Process
Visa applications are processed quickly in Dubai, often within 24 to 48 hours, provided all documents are in order. Requirements include:
- Copies of the applicant’s Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC)
- UAE residence visa and ID
- Apartment tenancy contract
- Bank statement
- Visitor’s passport, airline tickets, and hotel bookings (if applicable)
When bringing minors, additional documents such as a birth certificate and clearance from the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are required.
