More countries support PH efforts to bring MSU bombers to justice

MANILA, Philippines: The United Kingdom (UK) and Australia support the efforts of the Marcos government to bring to justice the perpetrators of the bombing of the Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City on Sunday.

China and the United States also joined other countries in condemning the bombing of the MSU gym during a Catholic Mass which reportedly killed up to 11 people. At least 46 others were injured.

“The United Kingdom condemns this senseless act of violence, especially during Mindanao Peace Week and at the start of Advent. We support efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice,” British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Australian Ambassador to Manila Hae Kyong Yu PSM also deplored the violent attack on MSU. “We will continue to stand with the Philippine [government] in all [its] efforts to bring those responsible to justice,” she posted on X platform.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian in a statement posted on Facebook condemned the “killing of innocent people” in Marawi. “Violence against civilians has no place in the world,” he said.

The United States also condemned the “horrific terrorist attack” that occurred during a Catholic service being held at the MSU.

“The United States is in close contact with our Philippine partners and stands with the people of the Philippines in rejecting this act of violence,” US Department of State spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement.
