The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be deploying over a thousand personnel to assist in traffic management for the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on July 22, 2024, at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
At the Saturday News Forum, MMDA Traffic Operations Officer Manny Miro said they will be in charge of traffic management for both vehicles, pedestrians, and serve as emergency respondents on SONA day.
He added that MMDA personnel will also conduct road and sidewalk clearing and monitor traffic on highways leading to Batasan.
Marcos earlier instructed the House of Representatives to accommodate everyone who wants to attend the SONA.
As a security measure, the Batasang Pambansa will be locked down starting July 19, the Friday before the SONA.
Road closures will be announced days prior to the event.

Earlier, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it will deploy 22,000 police personnel during the SONA
A nationwide gun ban will also be imposed nationwide on July 22, SONA day.
