The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) enforcers are set to wear body cameras to prevent abuse or extortion ahead of the single ticketing system in May.

According to an Unang Balita report by Nico Waje on Wednesday, the MMDA Traffic Discipline Office held its orientation on enforcers on Tuesday regarding the proper use of body cameras.

Each camera will last up to eight hours, which is equivalent to one shift of an enforcer.

The cameras’ recordings are linked to the new MMDA Command Center in Pasig City, which will be used as evidence in case of complaints by apprehended motorists.

The MMDA last used body cameras in 2017.

The MMDA currently has 100 body cameras to be worn by enforcers in four areas in Metro Manila namely: Katipunan; Sta. Mesa, Manila; Ortigas; and Timog Avenue in Quezon City.

The agency plans to add body cameras in the coming months. — Jamil Santos/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
