A magnitude 5.9 earthquake jolted Lubang municipality in Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the earthquake took place at 4:23 p.m. some seven kilometers south-east of Lubang.
Tectonic in origin, it had a depth of 79 kilometers.
Phivolcs director Teresito Bacolcol said damage to infrastructure was not expected but aftershocks were likely.
