Luneta, Intramuros draw visitors at start of long weekend

Time travel as opposed to long travel was an option of many on the first day of the long weekend by visiting tourist spots in Manila such as Intramuros where one can take a kalesa ride, the “Village of Lights” and Mehan Garden, according to Joseph Morong’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday.

The tour of Intramuros, the “Walled City” in Manila, includes the popular Manila Cathedral, which held a mass in celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion on Friday.

“Dito rin kami magpapasko,” Elsa Basas, a visitor who came all the way from Samar, said.

A group of Vietnamese seminarians also took the opportunity to experience a kalesa ride during their stay in the country.

“Philippine country is beautiful,” Van Nguyen said.

A kalesa ride is available for P1,000 per ride for five people.

The area also offers a “Lamborghini” ride.

“They call it Lamborghini, but this is pedicab,” tour guide Samuel Lopez said. “We’re very happy ‘pag Pasko dahil marami pong namamasyal dito, nagkakaroon kami ng trabaho.”

Aside from the Manila Cathedral, visitors may also stop by the nearby San Agustin Church. The place is perfect for those who love taking their OOTD photos, as it features beautiful visuals.

Luneta Park has a variety of free activities lined up this month, including the fountain light show every afternoon.

Beginning Saturday, a concert at the park will be showcased at the park at 6 p.m. It will also run on December 10, 16, and 17.

On December 15, a Christmas Carol will delight visitors, while a concert will be conducted on Christmas Day.

On December 31, a New Year Countdown will be held at Burnham Green.

Meanwhile, bright Christmas lights await guests at the Mehan Garden’s “Village of Lights,” which also offers a roller-blading experience. It is open until January 1, 2024, every 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. — Carby Basina/BAP, GMA Integrated News
