Japan and the US are working together to create a big plan to help protect Taiwan if something bad happens there. This plan, which could be ready next month, would involve placing powerful missiles in some special places in Japan and the Philippines.
The US plans to send special soldiers, called the Marine Littoral Regiment, to the Nansei Islands, a group of islands in Japan. These soldiers will bring advanced weapons, like High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), which can shoot powerful rockets. There will also be a US team in the Philippines working with space, cyberspace, and special electronic equipment to keep things safe.
The goal of this plan is to be ready in case Taiwan needs help, and Japan and the US are teaming up to make sure they are prepared for any emergency. This new strategy is an important move for both countries to work together and protect Taiwan.
