In a show of unity, the House of Representatives pledged their “full support” to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., calling him a “symbol of the nation’s sovereignty.”
During a Christmas Fellowship at Malacañang on Wednesday night, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, alongside other lawmakers, presented a manifesto to the President. This document affirmed their commitment to uphold the country’s democratic principles and protect its stability.
Manifesto of Support for Marcos
The manifesto made it clear: the House is ready to defend the government against any threats. “We, the Members of the House of Representatives, guided by the Philippine Constitution as the supreme law of the land, reaffirm our unwavering commitment to defend the democratic institutions and sovereignty of our nation,” the statement read.
It emphasized the lawmakers’ solidarity in standing behind Marcos as he leads the country through challenges. They expressed confidence in his vision for a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines), pledging their cooperation to make it a reality.
Standing Up Against Destabilization
The legislators vowed to use their mandate to block any attempts to destabilize the government or undermine the President’s leadership. This pledge of loyalty comes at a crucial time, especially after Vice President Sara Duterte’s recent comments about having the President, First Lady Liza Marcos, and Speaker Romualdez “killed” if harm were to come to her.
Resolution 277: A Symbol of Unity
As part of their gesture of support, the House members handed Marcos a copy of Resolution 277. This document formally declared their “unwavering and unqualified support” for both the President and Speaker Romualdez.
The fellowship served as a moment to reaffirm the partnership between the executive and legislative branches, highlighting their shared goal of ensuring national stability and progress.
