MANILA, Philippines — With a weakened southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” the country would continue to expect another hot weather until the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the ridge of a high pressure area (HPA) was affecting Luzon and Visayas.
Meanwhile, habagat is affecting the eastern section of Mindanao, the Pagasa forecaster said.
The weather system is bringing overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, Tawi-tawi, Basilan and Palawan.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will likely have partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to the localized thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said.
