On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, work in government offices will be suspended starting at 12 p.m. to give government workers time to prepare for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. This decision comes as part of Memorandum Circular No. 81.
From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on that day, government employees will be allowed to work from home. This is to help them observe the religious holidays properly, travel to different regions, and have enough time to prepare for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday on April 17-18.
The circular explained that government workers can work from home in the morning, and after 12 p.m., they can have the rest of the day off. However, government offices that provide important services, like health services, disaster response, or other critical work, will remain open and continue operating as usual.
For private companies, it’s up to the employers to decide if their employees will also work from home or if work will be suspended.
This measure aims to give everyone enough time to observe the religious holidays properly while maintaining essential services.
