Gov’t Brings P33/Kilo Rice to NHA Sites Through Kadiwa

Starting this month, the Philippine government will be setting up special Kadiwa stores at National Housing Authority (NHA) sites, where they will sell rice for just P33 per kilo. The program is part of a big effort to help families living in government housing projects.

Joeben Tai, the general manager of the NHA, shared that these Kadiwa stores will open in different areas from April to May 2025. The first stores will be set up in places like San Jose del Monte in Bulacan, Laguna, Naic and Bacoor in Cavite, and some towns in Rizal.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo program is designed to help Filipinos buy affordable rice, vegetables, meat, and fish. This program was made possible after the NHA and the Department of Agriculture (DA) signed an agreement last March to work together.

At these Kadiwa stores, families can buy between 3 to 50 kilos of rice, which is about one sack. This is great news for the 1.2 million people who live in government housing because it gives them access to cheaper rice. The government is currently making sure there is enough rice to sell, and they’ve already set aside 80,000 sacks of rice to be delivered soon.

Tai mentioned that the rice should arrive at the housing sites either this week or next, so families will be able to get their rice soon!
