Steven Raga
Steven Raga has been re-elected to a second term as the representative of District 30 in Queens County, New York, defeating challenger Brandon Castro. Raga made history as the first Filipino American elected to the New York State Assembly and will continue his work in the legislature.
Angelito Tenorio
In Wisconsin, Fil-Am Angelito Tenorio has won a seat in the State Assembly for District 14. On his Facebook page, he reflected on his roots and the significance of his victory: “I’m deeply grateful and honored to have earned the trust and support of the people of District 14. As a young person and the son of Filipino immigrants, I feel truly blessed to have this opportunity to serve our community in the Wisconsin State Legislature. I don’t come from a wealthy, well-connected family. I’m just a kid from West Allis who deeply cares about his hometown. I entered this race because I’m passionate about building a brighter future for everyone in our community.”
Christopher Cabaldon
Christopher Cabaldon, former mayor of Sacramento, is poised to become the first Filipino American elected to the California State Senate, representing District 3. Cabaldon, a veteran politician, previously served as Sacramento’s mayor for over two decades.
Ysabel Jurado
In Los Angeles, Filipino American tenant rights attorney Ysabel Jurado is on track to make history. Running for the District 14 seat in the City Council against incumbent Kevin De Leon, Jurado has secured 56% of the votes, positioning herself to become the first Fil-Am elected to the Los Angeles City Council.
Todd Gloria
Fil-Am Todd Gloria, running for re-election as mayor of San Diego, currently holds a significant lead, with 55.56% of the votes over his opponent, retired Marine Lieutenant Larry Turner, who has garnered 45.4%.
Juslyn Manalo
In California, Daly City Mayor Juslyn Manalo has also secured re-election for a second term. On her Facebook page, Manalo expressed her appreciation to her constituents, stating, “I’m extremely grateful to serve my hometown continuously.”
