Diana Zubiri is making her much-anticipated return to television with the upcoming Kapuso series, “Mga Batang Riles.”
In an interview featured in Lhar Santiago’s report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, Diana shared her excitement about the project. “Kami ang unang show na papasok ngayong bagong taon. So, kami ang kumbaga opening ng taon na ito kaya masayang-masaya ako dahil ito ang pagbabalik ko after ng limang taon,” she said, expressing her joy for her comeback after a five-year hiatus.
Diana praised her co-stars Kokoy De Santos, Raheel Bhyria, Bruce Roeland, Antonio Vinzon, and Miguel Tanfelix, who will portray her son in the series.
Speaking about Miguel, Diana said, “Magalang po ‘yung bata, may disiplina siya, tsaka nakita mo [na] trained kasi nga po since bata pa naman siya, artista na siya. Trained na siya. Professional. OK na OK ‘yung tandem namin bilang mag-ina.”
She admired Miguel’s dedication to his craft, noting that he often reaches out and puts extra effort into his acting. “Nakikita ko sila mag-rehearse, mag-training, proud ako kasi nakikita ko po kung gaano sila kasipag, kung papaano nila pinaghahandaan ‘yung mga eksena kaya I’m sure magiging proud din sa kanila ‘yung mga manonood,” she shared enthusiastically.
Diana has spent the last five years living in Australia with her husband, Andy Smith, and their children. Fans remember her as Sang’gre Danaya in the original 2005 version of “Encantadia,” where she starred alongside Iza Calzado, Karylle, and Sunshine Dizon. She later reprised her role in the 2016 remake of the fantasy series.
“Mga Batang Riles,” directed by Richard Arellano, is set to premiere on GMA Prime in January 2025. Diana’s return marks an exciting start to the new year for Kapuso fans and promises to deliver a heartfelt and inspiring story.
