Parańaque City – Dennis Trillo shined at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 Gabi ng Parangal on Friday night, taking home the prestigious Best Actor Award for his powerful performance as Domingo Zamora in the gripping film Green Bones.
A Role Like No Other
In Green Bones, Dennis portrayed Domingo Zamora, a feared prisoner notorious for the chilling crime of murdering his sister and her daughter. The story takes a dramatic turn as Domingo’s parole hearing approaches, and a newly assigned prison guard, played by Ruru Madrid, is determined to prevent his release. Dennis’ nuanced performance captured the complexity of Domingo’s dark and tormented character, leaving audiences and critics in awe.
A Tough Competition
Dennis triumphed over a star-studded lineup of Best Actor nominees, including Vice Ganda, Seth Fedelin, Vic Sotto, Piolo Pascual, and Arjo Atayde.

In his acceptance speech, Dennis expressed immense gratitude:
“Maraming salamat sa MMFF, sa MMDA, at sa lahat ng bumuo ng gabing ito. Salamat po sa mga naniniwala sa akin.” He thanked GMA Films, producer Annette Gozon, writer Ricky Lee, and director Zig Dulay for trusting him with the role.
Dennis also dedicated the award to his family, especially his wife, actress Jennylyn Mercado, calling her his “number one supporter.” He shared how his family inspires him to give his best:
“Ang award na ‘to ay para sa aking pamilya. Sila ang nagbibigay sa akin ng lakas at inspirasyon. Hinding-hindi ko ito makakalimutan. Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino!”
