MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has decided not to raffle the names of senatorial candidates for the 2025 elections. Instead, their names will appear in alphabetical order on the ballot.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia explained that while a raffle was done for party-list groups in 2019 due to the large number of participants, this won’t be the case for senators or other positions like those in the Sangguniang. “We’re sticking with alphabetical order,” Garcia said.
There are 183 candidates running for the Senate, but only 66 have been confirmed as valid by Comelec’s Law Department.
