Several cities in Metro Manila decided to cancel face-to-face classes on Monday, November 11, 2024, because of the severe weather caused by Tropical Storm Nika. The storm became stronger and was expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds, so the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 for the area.
Because of this, the following cities in Metro Manila announced the suspension of in-person classes in both public and private schools:
- Parañaque City – All levels (from kindergarten to high school)
- Muntinlupa City – All levels
- Las Piñas City – All levels
- Valenzuela City – All levels
The suspension was made to protect the safety of the students and school staff. Local authorities are urging everyone to stay alert and follow updates from Pagasa and the local government to stay safe during the storm.
