CHR welcomes new Commissioner Dumarpa

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) over the weekend welcomed the appointment of Atty. Faydah Dumarpa as the third commissioner of the sixth Commission en banc (CEB).

In a statement released Sunday, the CHR said Dumarpa’s appointment paper was signed by President Ferdinand “Bonbong” Marcos Jr. on December 28, 2022, and was formally transmitted to the CHR on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Dumarpa’s term will cover a full term of seven years from 2022 to 2029, along with the rest of the CEB.

Before her appointment, Dumarpa served as Deputy Executive Director III for Administrative and Financial Service in the Department of Health’s (DOH’s) National Nutrition Council since 2021.

She also worked in the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) as Director IV for the Administrative and Financial Group.

“CHR looks forward to her future contributions in the policy, protection, promotion, and prevention work of the Commission,” the CHR said.

“Similarly, we welcome the gender balance that Commissioner Dumarpa brings to CEB VI. Her overall multidisciplinary perspective comes as a great benefit to the ever-flourishing landscape of human rights,” it added.

Dumarpa is the daughter of former Lanao del Sur District I Representative Faysah Racman Pimping Maniri Dumarpa, and former National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) Commissioner Atty. Salic Biston Dumarpa.

Under its mandate, the CHR conducts investigations on human rights violations against marginalized and vulnerable sectors of society involving civil and political rights. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
