Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian has indicated how much their China valued Filipinos during President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s recent visit to China, Raffy Tima reported on “24 Oras.
“That was an exceptional expression of warmth, high salute and high regard of 1.4 billion people for the 110 million Filipino people,” Huang said in a get-together with members of the Philippine media.
Although the Supreme Court has declared unconstitutional the Joint Marine Seismic Undertaking (JMSU) among the Philippines, China, and Vietnam in 2005, Huang said the two sides would continue to handle maritime issues through “friendly consultations.”
“We will continue to handle maritime issues through friendly consultations and announced the resumption of negotiations on joint oil and gas exploration,” Huang said.
“We will be able to find a way of settling differences and solving problems and build the South China Sea into a sea of peace, friendship, and cooperation,” he added.
Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil also shared the positive results of Marcos’ state visit to China, including the cooperation of the media representatives in both countries.
“During the visit, we laid the groundwork for future projects towards the strong ties between Manila and Beijing,” she said. –Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
