Senator Bong Revilla recently confirmed that he has children outside of his marriage to Cavite Congresswoman Lani Mercado. The revelation came during a media conference for the upcoming Season 3 of his TV show, “Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis”, according to a report by GMA News’ 24 Oras on Monday.
Did His Wife Lani Know?
When asked if his wife and kids were aware of these children, Revilla answered honestly:
“Alam ni Lani kung ano ‘yung totoo. Mayroon, mayroon,” he said. (Lani knows the truth. Yes, there are children.)
Revilla also mentioned that the public would get to know who these children are someday.
Why Did He Admit It?
Revilla explained that it wouldn’t be fair to keep his children a secret.
“Hindi mo puwedeng itago ‘yon. Unfair ‘yon para sa mga bata,” he said.
(You can’t hide it. It’s unfair to the children.)
He stressed that all children deserve to be loved and accepted.
“Kapag anak mo, anak mo ‘yon. Dugo mo ‘yon, mahalin mo ‘yon at hindi ko ikinahihiya ‘yong ganon.”
(If they’re your children, they’re yours. They’re your blood, love them, and I’m not ashamed of it.)
Bong Revilla and Lani Mercado’s Family
Bong and Lani were married in 1986 and have six children together. Two of them, Jolo and Gianna, also had careers in showbiz.
Bong’s TV Comeback
Revilla is returning as Bartolome “Bart/Tolome” Reynaldo in Season 3 of his hit GMA series, “Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis.” He will once again be joined by actress Beauty Gonzalez in this action-comedy show, which premieres on December 22.
