PSA, “Balota” starring Marian Rivera just dropped a new trailer!
On social media, Monday, GMA Pictures released the second official trailer of the much-awaited Cinemalaya film.
The 30-second trailer opens with Marian (Emmy) serving in the election as a teacher, then cuts to scenes of corruption happening in the shadow of the election. Marian heads into the forest with the ballot box and is also shown deglamorized as she fights a gun-toting assailant.
“Balota” dropped its first official trailer last week ahead of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, which will run next month from Aug. 2 to 11.
Marian plays the role of Teacher Emmy in “Balota.” The film follows a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town.
“Balota” is written and directed by Kip Oebanda, the award-winning filmmaker behind “Liway” and “Bar Boys,” and is co-produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Entertainment Group.
Apart from Marian, content creators Sassa Gurl and Esnyr, Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera, Raheel Bhyria, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, Mae Paner, and Gardo Verzosa also star in “Balota.”
Aside from “Balota,” the film “Lost Sabungeros” will also premiere at Cinemalaya.
“Lost Sabungeros” is the first-ever investigative docu-film of GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures and centers on the sabungeros or cockfighting enthusiasts who have been missing since 2022.
