Alden Richards, Ruru Madrid, more Kapuso stars win at Maharlikang Filipino Awards

Four Kapuso stars, including Alden Richards and Ruru Madrid, won accolades at the Maharlikang Filipino Awards.

According to a post by Sparkle on Instagram, Alden received the Maharlikang Laureate for Television and Film.

Ruru, meanwhile, was bestowed the Maharlikang Filipino Creative Excellence in Television award for his role in “Black Rider.”

Joining Alden and Ruru were “Running Man Philippines” star Glaiza De Castro and “Makiling” star Elle Villanueva, who took home the Maharlikang Filipino Award for Remarkable Film and Television Actress and Breakthrough Female Artist of the Year award, respectively.

Alden was recently named the Box Office King at the 52nd Box Office Entertainment Award for his performance in the 2023 hit romance-drama film, “Five Breakups and a Romance,” where he starred with Julia Montes.

He is set to reprise his role as Ethan in the sequel of the 2019 blockbuster film “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” alongside Kathyrn Bernardo.

Titled “Hello, Love, Again,” it will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana and is slated to be released in the Philippines on November 13.

As for Ruru, his action-packed series “Black Rider” won a bronze medal at the New York Festivals last April. He also won the Most Popular Love team for Television award alongside his girlfriend Bianca Umali.

The Maharlikang Filipino Award is a “special event honoring outstanding Filipinos who excel in their crafts and are living up to the values of a Maharlikang Pinoy.”

The awards ceremony was held on May 21 in Okada, Manila.
