Alden Richards impressed viewers with his powerful performance in Pulang Araw. In Episode 61, his character Eduardo is reunited with his sister Adelina (played by Barbie Forteza) after joining the guerilla forces. Adelina brings the heartbreaking news that Teresita (Sanya Lopez) has been kidnapped by the Japanese.
Eduardo, overwhelmed with anger and fear for Teresita, loses control and vows to save her and take down Col. Yuta Saitoh (Dennis Trillo). His fellow guerillas have to tie him up to stop him from acting recklessly, as he screams Teresita’s name in agony.
Fans were blown away by the intensity of the scene. One viewer said, “Alden’s acting was so intense, it had me on the edge of my seat!” Another fan praised him, calling him the “best actor of his generation.”
In an interview on 24 Oras, Alden thanked fans for their support, saying he was grateful for their kind words and the chance to tell such an important story.
