Various drugs, including cocaine and methamphetamine, were reportedly found in the body of pop star Liam Payne, according to toxicology tests. The 31-year-old former One Direction member tragically passed away after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Sources told ABC News and TMZ that a mix of drugs known as “pink cocaine,” which contains methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA, was detected during a partial autopsy. Crack cocaine and benzodiazepine were also listed in the reports.
In Liam’s hotel room, authorities found an “improvised aluminum pipe” used for ingesting drugs, according to ABC News.
Before discovering his body, a hotel employee had called emergency services, reporting a guest “overwhelmed by drugs and alcohol” who was damaging furniture in the room.
The post-mortem results revealed that Liam was alone at the time of the incident and was likely “experiencing a substance abuse episode,” according to prosecutors. Injuries from the fall were consistent with a fatal accident.
A hotel staff member suspected of supplying Liam with drugs that day was interviewed by officials but was not arrested or charged.
Liam had previously been open about his struggles with fame and alcoholism following his solo career success.
