Quiboloy arrested – Abalos

MANILA, Philippines — Fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy has been arrested, Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. announced on Sunday.

He made the announcement in a Facebook post.

“Nahuli na po si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy! (Pastor Apollo Quiboloy has been caught!)” Abalos posted.

The social media post was accompanied by photos showing Quiboloy with several unidentified men.

According to Abalos, the controversial Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder was apprehended at 6 p.m. inside the compound of the religious group in Davao City.

No other details were provided.

The arrest was confirmed by Brig. Gen Nicolas Torre III, who appealed to members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ to start the healing process.

Authorities said that an airplane is being readied to bring Quiboloy to Manila where he is expected to spend the night inside Camp Crame.

Quiboloy is facing charges under Section 5(b) and Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

He is also facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig City court.
