Angelito Gino-Gino, popularly known as “Lolo Pops”, a candy vendor from Pampanga who went viral for selling lollipops and polvoron on the streets and on e-commerce platform, passed away on Wednesday. He was 75.

He joined his wife, Pacita Gino-Gino, only three days after her death, Kristal Mhay, his granddaughter confirmed their loss on Facebook.

“It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that our beloved Lolo, Angelito Gino-Gino aka “LOLO POPS” / “LOLO LOLLIPOP” joined our Creator just three days after his wife, Pacita dela Cruz Gino-Gino, passed away,” the granddaughter said.

“Thank you Lo, for being such an inspiration to all of us. You have shown us that no matter how bitter the world is, there’s a candy of yours that will make the world as sweet as your smile. Thank you for bringing sweetness in the lives of Pampangueños,” she added.

Lolo Pops first gained popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic when an online user found him selling polvoron at a drive thru in Pampanga and posted him on social media to seek more support for the seller.

He eventually opened a Shopee account to expand his business nationwide.

Moving his products online enabled Lolo Pops to rebuild his house in 2021.

His passing was remembered by the public with many online users sharing their interactions with Lolo Pops on Facebook.

“I still remember the time na nag-birthday ako sa HAU and was surprised by my friends sa side gate, then Lolo Pops gave me 10 pastillas (for free kasi daw birthday ko). Ayaw tanggapin bayad ko kahit anong ipilit ko. Your kindness will always be remembered, Lolo Pops,” an online user said.

“Mamimiss ka namin Lolo Pops lalo na kapag dumarating na ang BER months ikaw ang una kong nakikita sa Angeles. Condolence po sa pamilya,” another Facebook user commented.

Arnold Salunga, a painter, also reposted an artwork he made for Lolo Pops in 2019. He shared how Lolo Pops reminded him of his own father.
