NBI files complaint vs. Chinese linked to killing of POGO employee

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed a complaint on Friday against a Chinese national linked to the kidnapping and killing of an employee of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO).

According to Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Fadullon, the NBI filed a complaint against Yu Yang for violation of Section 16 of Republic Act (RA) 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, violations of Sections 11, 12, and 15 of RA 9165, and violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“These cases were subjected to inquest proceedings. We are currently awaiting the resolution of the inquest prosecutor,” Fadullon said in a statement.

NBI operatives arrested Yang on Thursday evening, according to John Consulta’s report on Balitanghali.

They noticed the fake plate number of the vehicle that Yang was using.

Based on their investigation, the SUV was rented and was used to kidnap a Malaysian national in Laguna. The victim was later found dead in Pampanga.

NBI-NCR Regional Director Rommel Vallejo said Yang’s group aimed to kidnap POGO employees in exchange for ransom.

Even though they receive payment, they would still kill their victims.

In the car, authorities found shabu, handcuffs, a taser, and bullets. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
