QCPD: No evidence to support viral reports of robberies of QC establishments

Viral social media posts pertaining to several robberies of Quezon City establishments are not supported by evidence, the Philippine National Police said.

The Philippine National Police on Tuesday referred to Quezon City Police District Director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan’s earlier statement that these reports are untrue.

“There is no concrete evidence to support the claims of these alleged robbery incidents,” Maranan declared.

The incidents cited include an alleged robbery of P100,000 worth of cash, jewelry and phones from a Japanese restaurant; and robberies of P250,000 each from a coffee chain on Banawe and a seafood restaurant.

PNP Chief Benjamin Acorda Jr. urged the public to be cautious about unverified information online.

“We urge everyone to stay alert and cautious of unverified information encountered in cyberspaces. The PNP is always here to serve and protect you from street crimes and even from cybercrimes,” he said. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BM, GMA Integrated News
