KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday pointed out the “phenomenal progress” in the Philippines under the leadership of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Anwar made the remark during his joint statement with the Philippine leader at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. He, however, did not elaborate on the progress made in the Philippines under the Marcos administration.
“We also take note of the fact that there has been phenomenal progress in the Philippines post-COVID under your leadership, and we will certainly utilize this experience in trying to encourage, enhance the collaboration,” Anwar said.
Anwar also emphasized the “long journey of good bilateral relations” between Kuala Lumpur and Manila.
“Your presence here today, which is quite unique in the sense that we have not had too many Presidents visiting Malaysia on a bilateral basis, which is something really meaningful to Malaysia and all Malaysians to see our great neighbor,” Anwar told Marcos.
Anwar visited Manila last March and discussed strengthening political, economic and security relations with Marcos, as well as the pressing regional and global issues.
The two leaders then tackled security cooperation, halal industry collaboration, and digital economy cooperation.–LDF, GMA Integrated News
