A total of 459 news COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Philippines on Thursday, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
The new cases were over a hundred higher than the 326 logged on Wednesday.
Despite the rise in new infections, the active tally continues to drop with 11,779, slightly down from Wednesday’s 11,786.
The nationwide cases now total 4,065,910, the Health department added.
The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with the most number of cases in the recent two weeks with 2,519 infections.
It was followed by Calabarzon with 1,211, Central Luzon with 581, Western Visayas with 341, and Cagayan Valley with 270.
The recovery tally increased to 3,988,860, while the death toll also rose to 65,451 with six new fatalities.
The country’s bed occupancy stood at 19.5%, with 5,324 beds occupied and 21,979 vacant as of Tuesday, January 3.
A total of 11,080 individuals were tested, while 330 testing labs submitted data as of Wednesday, January 4.–LDF, GMA Integrated News
