38% Pass Bar Exam, UP Student Takes Top Spot

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court of the Philippines announced a significant milestone on Friday, revealing that 3,962 examinees successfully passed the September 2024 Bar Examinations, officially earning the title of lawyer.

Out of the 10,502 hopefuls who took the exams, 37.84% achieved the passing grade, making this a remarkable achievement. The passing grade for this year’s Bar Exams was set at 74%, as confirmed by High Court Justice and 2024 Bar Exam Chairman Mario Lopez. Justice Lopez emphasized that the justices of the Supreme Court collectively agreed to adopt this threshold to recognize the efforts of the examinees.

Top 10 Passers Shine Bright

Among the new lawyers, 10 individuals stood out with exceptional performances, securing their spots in the Top 10:

  1. Kyle Christian Guerrero Tutor – University of the Philippines (85.77%)
  2. Maria Cristina Santos Aniceto – Ateneo de Manila University (85.54%)
  3. Gerald Roxas – Angeles University Foundation School of Law (84.355%)
  4. John Philippe Chua – University of the Philippines (84.28%)
  5. Jet Ryan Nicolas – University of the Philippines (84.265%)
  6. Maria Lovelyn Joyce Quebrar – University of the Philippines (84.06%)
  7. Kyle Andrew Isaguirre – Ateneo de Manila University (83.905%)
  8. Joji Macadine – University of Mindanao (83.745%)
  9. Gregorio Jose Torres II – Western Mindanao State University (83.59%)
  10. Raya Villacorta – San Beda University (83.47%)

These top-notch achievers represent some of the country’s most prestigious law schools, showcasing academic excellence and dedication.

Details of the Bar Exams

The Bar Examinations were conducted on three separate dates: September 8, 11, and 15, 2024. As the chairman, Justice Mario Lopez oversaw the process, ensuring its integrity and smooth execution.

For those eager to see the full list of successful examinees, the Supreme Court has made it available on its official website. However, due to the Court being in recess at the time of the announcement, examinees and their families may need to exercise some patience in accessing the results.
