Two Filipinos lost their lives after inhaling toxic gases during a fire in Al Adan, Kuwait, on December 2. The tragic news was confirmed by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Friday.
What Happened?
According to reports, the victims were caught in the fire and succumbed to non-breathable, harmful gases. The toxic fumes, rather than the flames, were the cause of death.
Efforts to Bring Them Home
The DMW assured the public that efforts are underway to repatriate the victims’ remains. The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Kuwait is actively processing the necessary documents to ensure their safe return to the Philippines.
“The MWO is handling all the paperwork for the repatriation of the victims to their families,” the DMW stated.
Support for the Families
The DMW’s regional office in Western Visayas has already visited the victims’ families in Capiz. The grieving families received financial assistance to help them during this difficult time.
“The Department of Migrant Workers extends its heartfelt condolences to the families and assures them of full support,” the agency said in its statement.
A Message of Sympathy
The DMW expressed its sorrow for the tragic loss and promised to provide continuous support to the victims’ families.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by overseas workers and the importance of prioritizing their safety. The Filipino community mourns the loss of these two individuals and stands with their families in solidarity during this difficult time.
