On Wednesday, about 168,000 people headed to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to catch buses home for Undas 2024. By Thursday, this number was expected to reach 200,000 as more people left the city to visit their loved ones in the provinces.
PITX spokesperson Jason Salvador said there would be enough buses to take everyone where they needed to go. The buses are allowed to use the main road, EDSA, until 5 a.m. on Monday, November 4, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
While PITX wasn’t too crowded, some travelers felt unwell while waiting, especially those who had high blood pressure from lack of sleep.
To keep everyone safe, authorities performed surprise drug tests on bus drivers. Three drivers tested positive and had their licenses taken away to protect passengers this Undas weekend. Salvador reminded all drivers that these tests are for everyone’s safety.
To help keep peace during All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day, 12,000 police officers were stationed across the area to help travelers.
